Should students be allowed to have/to use mobile phone at schools?
70Celfone usage at school with limitations
This is only my opinion:
I think students should be allowed to bring their mobile phones at school with strict compliance to a certain set of rules, such as:
> Usage should only be during breaks to avoid class interuptions. Upon entering a classroom
> Students with mobile phones should arrive 3-5 minutes earlier to surrender their phones and be placed in a safety locker with ID numbers.
> An argument about "emergencies" can arise from families regarding non-usage of mobile phones during lessons. Quick solution would be, all parents-guardians of students will have the teacher's or school administartor's contact numbers including mobile phone contact to be reached in case of such emergencies.
> However, it is physically impossible to monitor exchange of media such as videos with maliscious content, pornography amongst students during their breaks. This could happen in and out of school as well as home. It is just impossible, only thing we can do is to further educate children with good moral values.
So if I was asked.. YES, students should be allowed to bring their mobile phones in school, but they can't use it during classes.

Children should be allowed to use their mobile phones in class because they can serve as 'learning aids', a study claims today.
Academics are calling on schools to rethink bans on phone handsets after trials suggested that functions such as calculators, stopwatches and email can be 'educational'.
However, the call is certain to infuriate many teachers and parents, who will be concerned that pupils will be unable to resist the temptation to put the devices to less productive uses, such as cyber-bullying or cheating in tests.
During a nine-month experiment involving classes aged 14 to 16, pupils either used their own mobiles in lessons or the new generation of ' smartphones' which allow internet connection.
They were used to create short films, set homework reminders, record a teacher reading a poem and time experiments with the phones' stopwatches.
The smartphones also allowed pupils to access revision websites, log into the school email system, or transfer electronic files between school and home.
The study by researchers at Nottingham University involved 331 pupils in schools in Cambridgeshire, West Berkshire and Nottingham.
'At the start of the study, even pupils were often surprised at the thought that mobile phones could be used for learning,' Dr Elizabeth Hartnell-Young will tell the annual conference of the British Educational Research Association in Edinburgh later today.
'After their hands-on experience, almost all pupils said they had enjoyed the project and felt more motivated.'
One teacher told researchers that students like mobiles and they know how to use them.
'Using this technology gives them more freedom to express themselves without needing to be constantly supervised,' the teacher said.
However, the report admits that some teachers think greater use of mobile phones in schools could prove problematic.
Increased temptation to steal phones belonging to the school was one worry.
'I thought, well, four of these smartphones are going to end up on eBay tomorrow,' one teacher said.
Other concerns related to cheating and taking inappropriate images or recordings of teachers.
Allowing pupils to access school emails via mobiles would also pose data security risks if passwords were shared, they said.
More than 90 per cent of secondary school pupils have their own mobile phones but their use is often forbidden on school premises.
Some schools ban them outright while others insist they must be kept switched off except in emergencies or outside lesson time.
However the study found that despite the bans, some pupils were using their phones in class, including as cameras and to make calls to friends.
Dr Hartnell-Young said: 'While the eventual aim should be to lift blanket bans on phones, we do not recommend immediate, whole-school change.
'Instead we believe that teachers, students and the wider community should work together to develop policies that will enable this powerful new learning tool to be used safely.'
Quite sensible points......

I think cellphones shouldn't be allowed in schools. Why I think that is because cellphones can be a distractions.

This was such a nice hub! For me yes, I would allow my kids to bring cell phones to class for some reasons. First, I would be able to monitor them from time to time because parents can’t afford to be by their side all the time. Second, kids could easily report to their parents, whenever there is an emergency. In fact, I registered my son to SafeKidZone. It is a mobile security application that enables my son to summon help from family and friends and with direct access to the nearest 911. This is how I protect my child check out, http://safekidzone.com/
I think y6 pupils should be allowed because they are much more sensible
i think pupils should be able 2 bring mobile phones 2 school
i think we should
i don't think it would be a better idea to have cellphones inside the class, because of the following reasons, first, students can no longer concentrate on their studies,it will just obstruct their studies, hence it will add burden on their part as a student, furthermore, because of this it will also increase the risk of obsession, and addiction.....
Second,it not necessary to have cellphones brought inside the class since there are available telephones in offices, and lastly, we can still accommodate ourselves in school without cellphones,... right????????
WE SHOULD MOST DEFINATELY HAVE CELL PHONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(^-^)
its true
i dont think that we should be able to have our phones in class because we will be distracted by them and not pay attention
I think that cellfone use in shool or collage with limitations
Being a good student we should n't use mobile. Now a days children are paying attention only mobile. the talk whole night with friends and unknown persons. In this reason crimes are increasing day by day.

As a kid of the 1070's and 1980's, we had no such things. We got by perfectly in school without these distractions.Think about our grandparents with no phones at all. If an emergency happened in school. we waited until we got home or the got called to th office. Foruntelay I never went thru an emergency at school. I think kids just want an excuse to leave school. Some emergencies can be handled well by adults.
